![]() ![]() Reddit: the Readder app still supports iOS9 and works very well, I think it was paid but well worth the cost. ![]() It's surprisingly fast and makes reading quite pleasant. RSS reader: I recently found the Byline app which is still supported by iOS9 and integrates with Feedly. The reader mode on Safari can be very useful. All the browsers on this iPad seem to share the same backend so I don't think there's a huge advantage of any of them, and you'll end up using Safari whatever you do because it's the default browser (which can't be changed). I don't do a lot of general browsing (it's a bit painful). They are slow and plenty of sites won't work properly for various reasons. This is how I found the RSS reader below, for example.īrowser: I like the Snowbunny app, but Alook and Safari work fine as well. One imperfect method to get ideas that I use is to simply do a Google search for 'site: ios 9.0' along with any particular keywords (e.g. Frustratingly, there doesn't seem to be a way to filter this in the App Store app. General advice: it can be hard to find apps that are still supported by iOS9. But the iPad screen is still amazing and once you have loaded your PDF or video it works very smoothly. I now plan on keeping using this iPad for another 2-3 years or so. I would happily buy a new device if I need to but I'm kind of amazed at how an almost 11-year device still keeps going with a very decent battery life. But in the last couple of years or so I decided to tidy it up and find a use for it, more out of curiosity than anything. I used it a lot for the first 4-5 years or so, then as most apps stopped functioning I largely forgot about it. I'm still using my 3rd generation iPad that I bought in mid-2012.
